Imagine going to bed and waking up to a world of scrambled chaos that crushes everything about the world you live in. This is the experience of someone diagnosed with brain or spinal tumors. It can happen to anyone. Tumors are not selective and choose their victims at random.

Brain tumors not only create physical disabilities but can cause significant financial burdens. In fact, brain tumors are the most expensive and devastating of all cancers.

Dr. Virginia Stark-Vance witnessed this hardship daily in her profession and decided something had to be done. Dr. Stark-Vance joined with several patients suffering brain tumors and their families to form The Legacy Brain Foundation; an organization comprised of only volunteers and run by doctors, brain cancer survivors, family members, caregivers and friends. The Legacy Brain Foundation's sole purpose is to raise money and awareness to aid brain tumor patients and their families in all of North Texas.

We (LBF) are different, we can go directly to the patient and that really sets us apart from many other organizations. The LBF reaches out directly to the patients by awarding grants and scholarships to those in need. This direct assistance sets us apart from many other support organizations.

LBF awards grants to the cancer patients to help with the associated costs of a cancer diagnosis. Because medical expenses and treatment costs can be just as devastating as the diagnosis itself, these grants are used to help pay living expenses that otherwise could not be paid because of the mounting costs of medical expenses. The need for financial aid benefitting cancer patients and their families is growing at a rapid pace.
